Negative Man, also known as Larry Trainor, is a fictional character appearing in DC Comics. Created by Bob Haney and Arnold Drake, he first appeared in My Greatest Adventure #80 in June 1963.
Larry Trainor was a test pilot who encountered a strange radiation while flying an experimental plane. The radiation caused a negative energy being to attach itself to him, resulting in his ability to release a powerful negative energy from his body. However, this energy is also extremely dangerous to others, and he must wear special bandages to contain it.
As Negative Man, Larry became a founding member of the Doom Patrol, a team of misfits who use their powers to protect the world from bizarre threats. Negative Man’s powers allow him to fly and project energy blasts, but also put him at risk of being possessed by the negative energy creature inside him. Despite this danger, he remains committed to using his powers for good and protecting those around him.
Throughout his comic book history, Negative Man has been portrayed as a complex and tragic figure. He struggles with the alienation and isolation that come with being a superhero, as well as the constant threat of losing control of his powers. Despite these challenges, he remains a beloved character in the DC universe and a key member of the Doom Patrol.
