The Finest Cobra Snake Throne Renovation Fundraiser
From June 12 through June 27, 2026, the 13th Civil Defense Division Garrison of The Finest: A G.I. Joe Costume Club is raising funds to restore, repair, and improve one of our most recognizable convention props—the Cobra Snake Throne.
For years, this throne has been a centerpiece at comic conventions throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. It has been featured in thousands of photographs, appeared on Philadelphia’s ABC News affiliate, and helped create unforgettable memories for fans of all ages. Most importantly, it has played a major role in helping us raise money for charities that support veterans and service dogs.
After many years of service, the throne is showing its age. Our goal is to preserve this unique piece while also making it easier to transport, assemble, and use for years to come.
Who Is The Finest?
The Finest is the world’s premier G.I. Joe costume club. Dedicated to celebrating the legacy of G.I. Joe, our members bring beloved heroes and villains to life with high-quality costumes inspired by the classic cartoons, comics, action figures, and movies.
With garrisons spanning 40 states and nine countries, The Finest unites fans around the globe while supporting military charities, including K9s for Warriors, which rescues dogs from high-kill shelters and trains them to become service animals for veterans.
The 13th Civil Defense Division proudly represents The Finest throughout New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Why the Cobra Snake Throne Matters
The Cobra Snake Throne was created as a convention backdrop where attendees could take photos with members of The Finest at no charge. Over the years, it has become one of our most popular attractions.
Many fans who stop for a picture also learn about our charitable mission and choose to support it. At some events, as much as 67 percent of all donations have come from guests who appreciated both the throne and our commitment to helping veterans and rescue dogs.
The throne has become much more than a prop—it has become an important tool in our fundraising efforts and a symbol recognized by fans throughout the region.
Our Restoration & Upgrade Plan
Funds raised will be used to complete the following improvements in order:

- Phase 1: Refinish and repair the main throne seat

- Phase 2: Replace/upgrade the seat cushion

- Phase 3: Renovate and rebuild the side panels

- Phase 4: Repair and extend the bottom platform

- Phase 5: Replace/restore the throne’s side snakes

- Phase 6: Restructure the throne’s snake body

- Phase 7: Add lighting effects to the main snake head

- Phase 8: Upgrade the curtain backdrop frame

- Phase 9: Replace old support hardware
Every dollar raised toward our $700 goal will help bring the throne back better than ever and ensure it remains convention-ready for many years to come.
